WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme is introduced by the West Bengal State Government in order to help the farmers of the state. The government will provide financial assistance to the farmers for agricultural purposes.
In order to provide financial support to the farmers, the Central Government has introduced the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM Kisan). Similarly, the State Govt. has also introduced the Krishak Bandhu Scheme. Under this scheme, farmers will get Rs.4,000 to 10,000 in 2 installments for rabi and Kharif crops.
And in such cases where the farmer dies within 60 years, then the state government will give one-time financial support of 2 lakhs to the farmer’s family. Last year in June, 79 lakh farmers have supported financially with Rs.2,468 crore by the state for the Kharif season. A total of 91 lakh 57 thousand farmers have been helped by this scheme.
West Bengal Krishak Bandhu Scheme 2022
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has introduced the Krishak Bandhu Scheme for farmers. Those farmers who are financially weak will get financial support from the WB Government.
The main benefit of the scheme is that the farmers will get life insurance of Rs. 200000. In January 2019, this scheme was re-launched again with the motive to provide double financial support to the farmers.
Earlier, the state government was offering Rs.5000 yearly to the farmers for the land holding of 1 acre or more. But, in the latest launched scheme, the farmers will get Rs. 10000 annually. The main initiative behind re-launching the WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme is to double the benefits for farmers.
The West Bengal Government’s main target is to support the maximum number of farmers. Under this scheme, more than 67 lakh farmers will receive the benefit. The farmers will get it in 2 installments one in June and 2nd installment in November.

Krishak Bandhu Scheme Re-Launched: The Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamta Banarjee has introduced the WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme. This scheme is re-launched for the betterment of farmers. Earlier farmers were getting Rs.5000 per annum. But as the scheme is re-launched, now the benefit is doubled.

She has announced to support the farmers financially and now she has doubled the amount. Previously farmers used to receive Rs.5000 per annum. But as she has announced to double the benefit, now the farmers will get Rs.10,000 per annum.
Objective Of WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme/Plan
The main initiative behind launching the West Bengal Krishak Bandhu Yojana is to provide financial support to the farmers. The beneficiary will get a life insurance cover of Rs. 2 lacks in order to help the farmers financially.
Due to this financial support families of farmers will become self-sufficient, and now they don’t need to depend on others for their basic needs. This scheme will also help improve the financial condition of farmers and this is the main reason behind launching the KRISHAK BANDHU SCHEME.

Components Of Krnbishak Bandhu Scheme
Basically, there are 2 components of the West Bengal Krishak Bandhu scheme as mentioned below:
- Assured/ Fixed Income- Under fixed income, financial support will be given to all farmers and the beneficiaries who get selected under this scheme. The scheme has 2 more options, check below:
- Those farmers who have one or more acres will get Rs.5000 per annum for both Rabi and Kharif seasons.
- 1st installment will be provided to farmers in the month of June
- 2nd installment will be given in the month of November.
- Along with this, farmers will get minimum assistance of Rs.2000 per annum on a pro-rata basis.
- Those farmers who have one or more acres will get Rs.5000 per annum for both Rabi and Kharif seasons.
- Death Benefit- Under this death benefit, the families of farmers will get Rs.2 lakh after the death of farmers. All farmers aged between 18 to 60 years can take new insurance policy benefits.

Under this scheme “Krishak Bandhu Death Benefit” – in case of death of a farmer between 18 to 60 years. The state government will provide a one-time lump sum amount of Rs.2 lakh to the farmer’s family.
The agriculture assistance will be given to the farmer in 2 equal installments. For that beneficiary must have a bank account. So, the benefit will get direct deposit into their bank account.
Under the scheme, the farmer will get the assistance of Rs 10,000 every year, and the amount received from this will be given to the beneficiary in 2 installments.
